Custom-made Sports Mouthguards

Why should a sports mouthguard be worn?

Mouthguards are the most effective protective pieces of equipment to help prevent injury to the mouth. A mouthguard is a piece of molded plastic in the form of an arch that fits over the top teeth.

There are several ways in which a sports mouthguard protects the mouth & face:

  • Upper teeth are protected from damage by the guard when they are struck by impacts or blows to the face.
  • In the case of a collision or blow, the top and bottom teeth do not directly contact each other.
  • In addition to protecting the teeth, it also protects the soft tissues of the mouth, especially the cheeks, tongue and lips.

Mouthguards help to reduce the risk of damage or injury to the mouth and teeth.  When playing sports, children may suffer dental injuries such as broken teeth, knocked out teeth, cuts and lacerations on lips, tongue, cheek, gums or face, damage to the jaw joints, and jaw fractures.

Why a custom-made sports mouthguard?

Despite the fact that children frequently lose or damage teeth while playing sports, sports guards are underutilised since they are uncomfortable and poorly fitted.

Custom-made mouthguards are specially designed to fit the exact contours of the child’s mouth, providing the best protection and designed to reduce the impact to the teeth, soft tissues, bone and jaw joints. Compared to store-bought options, these are far more comfortable and allow normal breathing and speaking.

How are they made?

No messy molds are needed with our advanced dental technology that scans the teeth and gums quickly and accurately. To develop a custom sports mouthguard, we use the iTero digital scanner, which creates detailed, high-tech 3D images in less than 5 minutes.

How much do custom-made sports mouthguards cost?

The cost of a triple layer custom-made sports mouthguard starts at $385.
